1. Open "System Preferences >> Network >> Ethernet >> Advanced" in OS X, and find out your ETHERNET MAC ADDRESS (*NOT* the wireless or AIRPORT MAC address!) It looks like this---> ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

2. Open "AW.DAT" in TextMate or TextEdit *ON THE MAC - NOT PC!* - and paste the MAC address from STEP 1 here: Quote: FEATURE MayaUnltd sgiawd 8.500 permanent uncounted 0 \ HOSTID=ffffffffffff ffffffffffff represents your 12 digit/character MAC ADDRESS But remove the colons ":" so your MAC ADDRESS looks like this: ffffffffffff

3. Save the modified "AW.DAT" and quit TextMate/TextEdit.

4. Copy the keygen and modified "AW.DAT" to Windows XP/Vista - drag the "AW.DAT" onto the keygen, and it will finish the licence creation process for you. However, in order to do this, first you have to create a folder called FLEXLM in the C: Directory on WINDOWS and drag the 2 files into there. After that, drag the aw.dat file into the awkeygen.exe and it should create a newly modified aw.dat

5. Delete ANY other copies of "AW.DAT" from your MAC, and copy over the "AW.DAT" that you modified in windows, back to the MAC.

6. Start Maya NOTE: If you have trouble finding the original AW.DAT that comes with Maya, what worked for me is if you type aw.dat in Spotlight, and locate it in finder. Once you do that, replace it with the new AW.DAT that you just modified in WINDOWS using the keygen, and it should work fine. IF YOU ENCOUNTER LICENCE ERRORS, GO TO TERMINAL AND DO: Code: cd / cd /var/flexlm sudo rm -rf aw.dat ...which deletes the licence Maya installed. Then try to install the licence file "aw.dat" again!.

NOTE: If you cannot find the flexlm folder in MAC, go to Finder, click the "Go" drop down menu at the top, and click on "Go to Folder", then paste in /var/flexlm
